PetrolWise is a UK journey fuel cost app. This policy describes how the app handles your information.
PetrolWise requires a secure online account (Sign in with Apple or verified email). We store your account details and saved vehicle profile (registration, make, model, fuel type, MPG, and related DVLA-derived facts) on our servers so your garage syncs across devices. Journey history and route addresses stay on your iPhone only.
Your journey history, saved routes, favourites, and app preferences are stored on this iPhone. We do not upload a full copy of your trips to our servers.
When you use certain features, the app contacts PetrolWise services to:
Registration lookups and price requests are handled by a secure proxy. The proxy does not retain journey history or build a profile of your routes.
If you allow location access, PetrolWise uses your approximate position to default your journey start point and show maps. Location is used for those features only and is not stored on our servers.
If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple provides an identifier and may provide an email address (including a private relay). That information is linked to your PetrolWise account.
PetrolWise Premium is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Payment and subscription status are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
PetrolWise sends usage analytics tied to your account to help us understand how the app is used and improve it. This includes which features you use, vehicle make and model (not your number plate), and trip distance and cost figures when you calculate or save a journey. We do not send journey addresses in analytics.
Your full journey history remains on your device. Analytics events are not a server-side copy of your trips.
PetrolWise does not include third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking. We do not sell your data.
PetrolWise is not directed at children under 13.
We may update this policy. The in-app About section will continue to summarise how data is handled.
